Gère vu de l'ouest

Gère-Bélesten, for the pleasure of good King Henry …

The commune is made of two villages united at the end of the Middle Ages.
The old area, more picturesque is nestled against the mountain.  Château of Gère and fortified house.  Roman-style church in Bélesten. Old quarries of white marble.

In the Monplaisir area stood an old racetrack where, in the old days, horse races used to be organised for people who came to have hydrotherapy treatment.  There is nothing left of it today.  Original aspect:  the old railway tunnel has been turned into a salting room for cheese.
